‏Habib Sama‘i

(1911-1946)

Sama’i, Habib (1911-1946), the genius santur instrumentalist working in the field of Persian classical music (1921-1946). He first studied music with his father, Sama‘ Huzur, the eminent santur instrumentalist of the Qajar period. Few of his works are today available, although one or two pieces by him were reconstructed and performed by Faramarz Payvar in the Gulha programmes (Gulha-yi Rangarang no. 253 and Gulha-yi Taza no. 102).
