Shahindukht Shubayri

Shahindukht Shubayri (1942)

Vocalist renowned for singing popular ballads (tasnif) and lyrical songs (both classical and non-classical). She was one of the last female vocalists who had studied with ‘Ali Tajvidi and who performed a number of his works in the Golha programmes from 1960-68, but who ceased all musical activities thereafter. Since 1990, she has worked as an announcer on Persian television channels outside of Iran. No solo album of hers has been released.
