Harif Jandaqi

Hariri, ‘Ali Asghar (b. 1906), son of Hajj ‘Ali. A poet, writer, journalist, and physician born in Tabriz to the Hariri Family of Azerbaijan. He received his primary and secondary education in his hometown and was a classmate of Shahriyar, Gulam Husayn Ra’di, and Husayn’ali Pisyan. He departed Tabriz for Tehran and studied law. Having graduated, he returned to Tabriz and published the Javanmarg-i Urdibihisht Newspaper. Then, he went to Teheran and associated with Malik al-Shu’ara’ Bahar and Hashim Afsar and was introduced to the secrets of poetry. He traveled to Europe and studied medicine and pharmacology and having obtained his Ph.D., he became an assistant professor at the Medical School in Tehran. Later, he returned to Europe, settled in Paris, and contributed to some periodicals, Yaghma and Wahid.
