Danish Mashhadi, Muhammad Buzugniya (1902-1968), son of ‘Abd al-Husayn Tihrani. A poet with nom de plume Danish and a distinguished merchant in Khurasan. Born in Mashhad, he studied literary sciences there with teachers like Adib Nayshaburi, Shaykh Muhammad Hasan Shirazi, and Nusrat. Hailing from a mercantile ancestry, he followed his family profession and also served for a while as the director of the commerce administration of the city. He represented Khurasan in the fourth National Consultative Assembly (Majlis-i Shura-yi Milli). He was the president of the Khurasan Literary Society (Anjuman-i Adabi-yi Khurasan) and organized its literary circles and suported the poets. Then, he departed for Tehran and settled there. He was a talented poet who composed vigorous and elegant poetry, creating exquisite and novel themes. He had mastery of composing qasidas on the models of distinguished classical poets. His complete poetical works have appeared under the title of Raz-i Danish.
