Lutfu’llah Nishapuri

Nishaburi, Lutf Allah (Mawlana), a scholar, poet, and Sufi flourishing in the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. He composed eulogies on the Shi’i Imams and Miran Shah ibn Timur (Tamerlane). He departed late in life from Nishabur for the village of Qadamgah where he led a secluded life and died in 1407. The following lines are by him:

Last night, it was our of the purity and sincerity of my heart

That the beloved, rejuvenating my heart, in the tavern,

Brought to me a wine cup, urging me to drink.

I declined, but she said for my heart’s sake.
