Sirus Saghari

Sirus Saghari (1932-1997)

Santur instrumentalist and composer. He was born into an old family of musicians in Isfahan. His father had studied music with Musa Ma‘rufi. He won recognition for composing and performing the famous song (accompanying the female singer Nahid Da‘i-Javad) which was recorded on the Golha-yi sahra’i song entitled Ghurub-i kuhistan (Mountain Sunset). Over the past forty years, the song has remained a hit and hardly lost its popularity.
