Jahangir Shanjarfi
Jahangir Shanjarfi (1925-1971)
One of the first santur instrumentalists to perform both as a soloist and as an instrumentalist accompanying an orchestra during the years 1955-1958. Being self educated in music, he was often accompanied by Manuchihr Humayunpur (1925-2006), the famous vocalist of the 1940s. His performances in the Golha programmes did not last long and he was soon succeeded by other santur soloists such as Riza Varzanda, Faramarz Payvar, and Majid Najahi. No solo album of his has been released.
