Dhawqi Isfahani

Dhawqi Isfahani, Mirza Abu al-Qasim (1856-1917), son of ‘Abbas ibn Isma’il. A poet and calligrapher hailing from Isfahan. He received his education under the supervision of his paternal uncle and gained mastery of accountancy, book-keeping, and writing commercial correspondence. He attended most of the sessions held by the literary societies in Isfahan and Shiraz where he associated with Mirza Muhammad Suha; Mirza Abu al-Qasim Tarab; Mirza Hasan Atash; and Abu al-Fath Dihqan. He died in Isfahan and was buried adjacent to the Tekkye of Mirza Abu al-Ma’ali, in Takht-i Fulad Cemetery. His works include his Divan of poetry, running to 5,000 couplets, published in Isfahan.
