Adab

Bayza’i, Husayn (b. 1930), son of Hasan Bayza’i. He was born in Kashan and was raised in a family whose members mainly loved poetry and belles-lettres. He chose the nom de plume Adab. Adib Bayza’i and Dhuka’i Bayza’i were his paternal uncles and Hasan Partaw Bayza’i is his cousin. Adab completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown and immigrated to Tehran in 1946. He became a member of the Tehran Literary Society which was directed by his uncle, Dhuka’i Bayza’i, with whom he studied prosody and literary figures. He became acquainted with the arts and delicacies of poesy and was admitted in other literary circles in Tehran. His poetical talent and vigor flourished in time. He is one of poets composing elegant ghazals following the style of Sa’ib. From among classical poets, he is particularly attached to Sa’di and also makes use of Mas’ud Sa’d Salman’s prison poems (Habsiyyat).
